Dr. Lemieux

A native of the Kansas City area, Dr. Lemieux was captivated by the charm of the Brookside neighborhood while interning in this very office as a dental student. After graduating from the University of Kansas with his undergraduate degree in biology in 1982, Dr. Lemieux attended the UMKC School of Dentistry. In 1986, as a board certified dentist, he joined the practice that operated here, and went on to purchase it in 1991.
Dr. Lemieux stays current with state-of-the-art technology and advances in dentistry through many hours of post-graduate training. He holds memberships with the American Dental Association, the Missouri Dental Association and the Greater Kansas City Dental Society.

When he’s away from the dental office, Dr. Lemieux spends his time with his family. He and his wife, Cheri, have four sons: Brent, Max, Joe and Sam. Diehard KU fans, Dr. Lemieux and his family also enjoy following Sporting Kansas City, our Major League Soccer team.

Carie is motivated by helping our youngest patients have the most positive visits possible in our office, since those early experiences set a tone for a lifetime of excellent dental care. She became an assistant here in 2005, and brings an attitude of willingness to do everything possible to help our guests feel comfortable in our office. Outside the office, Carie and her husband Matt live on a 25-acre farm, where they are renovating a 100-year-old farmhouse. They have two children, Emma and Alexander.

Arlene has been helping patients achieve and maintain healthy smiles from this location since 1977. She joined Dr. Lemieux’s team at its beginning in 1991. Arlene holds a dental hygiene degree from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut. Arlene and her husband Bernie are passionate about spending time with their grandchildren.  They have two daughters, Brandy, a physician who lives in Chicago, and Stacy, a human resources benefits specialist here in Kansas City. They also enjoy KU sports and traveling. Observing advancements over the years in pain-free dentistry continues to be one of the most rewarding aspects of Arlene’s career.

Mary Kay

Mary Kay was welcomed into our practice in 2001. She graduated from the UMKC Dental Hygiene School with a bachelor’s degree in 1982. In our office, Mary Kay appreciates the freedom to interact with patients in her own relaxed and friendly style. She observes that many of our guests reflect the doctor’s own easy-going, open and fun-loving approach. Mary Kay has always been proud to call Brookside home. She enjoys running into our patients at the grocery store or in the neighborhood. In her spare time, Mary Kay is passionate about running half marathons, creative writing, and spending quality time with her husband, Jim and their adult children Tom and Erin.

Along with her degree in Dental Hygiene, our hygienist, Mary, holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Mary is right at home here in our office and enjoys the camaraderie of our team. She loves helping our guests feel at ease and comfortable, and is rewarded by seeing patients happy with the care they receive in our office. Mary and her husband, Jon, originally from Wisconsin, are avid Green Bay Packers fans. They have two adult children, J.J. and Anna, and are delighting in their role as grandparents.

Emily joined our practice in 1993. She has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Central Missouri State University and has worked in the field of marketing. A recovered “dental coward” herself, she enjoys watching how anxious patients are put at ease by their experiences in our office. Outside of work, Emily’s passion is leading small groups and training their leaders, but she is most proud of her roles as wife to David, and mom to Sarah and Laura. For two summers, as part of a radiation relief effort, her family has had the privilege of hosting a girl from Belarus, one of the countries most impacted by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
